References

The landlord will usually ask to see some references to check that you will be able to pay the rent and be a good tenant. The landlord may ask to see:

• a passport or National Insurance number
• a bank statement
• a copy of a bill with your name on it,
  or some evidence of employment
• a character reference - you will need to ask someone who is not a member of your family or a close friend to write one.

If you are using an agency, they will probably want to contact your previous landlord, so you will need to supply their details.
