Open a bank account

Identity To open a bank account, you need to show: proof of identity (ID) proof of your address where you live. Some banks ask for more than two pieces of ID. Take as much information with you as possible.
Types of document Proof of identity (ID) Passport National identity card Residence permit or similar document issued by the Home Office, showing you have a right to live in the UK Driving licence.
Your address Proof of address Tenancy agreement A letter from your employer in the UK confirming your UK address (and if you have pay slips it helps to show those too).
No photocopies Remember that banks usually only accept original documents, not photocopies.
