Exchanging contracts

6. Exchanging contracts

Your solicitor will negotiate the legal contract with the seller's solicitor.

Until your solicitor exchanges contracts with the seller's solicitor the seller does not have to sell the property to you, and you may withdraw your offer at any point.

Before your solicitor exchanges contracts, they will go through the contract and the replies to their enquiries with you. If you have any questions then you should ask your solicitor and they will be able to answer them. If you are unsure about anything, ask your solicitor to explain. That is what you are paying them for, so do not be afraid to ask.

Your solicitor will tell you if you have to pay a deposit, and how much that will be.
